Infineon Raceway ET Bracket Results (January 8)

By Jim McCombe

Usually the month of December is not associated with warm weather but that was not the case for the start of the 2012 drag race season which saw cloudless skies and bright sunshine that had temperatures in the mid to upper 60's.
Claiming opening class wins were Keith Richards of Windsor in Super Pro, Richmond's Steve Parrish (Pro ET)  Dwayne Opperman of Napa (Sportsman) Novato's Doug Love (Motorcycle) and Tracy Brooks of San Pablo in the Trophy Division.

Richards driving a 70 Dodge Challenger with backing from Shook and Waller Construction, Fast Man EFI and Mopar Engines West started his victory march earning wins over Mike Eling's Rohnert Park based 65 El Camino followed by victories over Vacaville's Joe Brown's 70 Duster, Sonora's Rich Nedbal Hemi powered Land Shark dragster followed by a bye run in the semis.
Working the other side of the ladder was Napa's Kathy Ball's LJ's Speed Shop, Mitchell Bros. Transmissions, Kathy Ball Realty sponsored familiar 69 Camaro.
Ball opened up with win a over Lodi's Tim Koehler and his 70 Camaro followed by a close win over Chad Axford's 03 Undercover dragster from Carmichael.
Next to go down was Stockton's Dennis Paz and his 41 Willy's truck which was then capped off with double break out win over Rohnert Park's Sean Eling's 240Z 71 Datsun.
For the money, Ball took the early lead with a .047 light to Richard's better .016 but couldn't hold off Richards  who put up a 9.156 ET (9.13 dial in) at 139.83 to Ball's very close but slightly off 11.903 (11.88) at 126.93
